The Shaughnessy House was severely damaged by fire in 2004 and it has been totally restored to it's original splendor incorporating modern building standards so that it can be effectively used as a year round residence.
The building has no heritage designation, however the land is designed a national historic site because the berms around the property contain the original earthworks for the War of 1812.
