THIS HISTORIC MASTERPIECE IS NEAR COMPLETION… The great architectural masterworks of centuries past is being re-created with all of its original splendor to capture once again the luxury and grandeur that existed in the early 1900’s when St. Andrews by The Sea was the summer playground for the executives of the Canadian Pacific Railway and high society from Canada and the United States.

It’s approximately 6,400 square feet will feature the original moldings, beams, decorative cornices, and fireplaces that have been replicated and replaced to restore the Fort to its original grandeur. Outstanding views from various locations within the house afford the residents both sunrise and sunset views over Passamaquoddy Bay and the St. Croix River.

Approximately 210 feet of continuous veranda, approximately 12.8 feet deep, runs on all four sides of the house, ending at the magnificent rotunda approximately 19 feet in diameter at the rear of the house. The rotunda enjoys a splendid view over Katy's Cove of Passamaquoddy Bay.

In 1903, Lord Shaughnessy, then president of the Canadian Pacific Railway built his summer home on the site of Fort Tipperary, an original British Garrison that was built for the War of 1812. The Shaughnessy House was severely damaged by fire in 2004 and it has been totally restored to it's original splendor incorporating modern building standards so that it can be effectively used as a year round residence.

The building has no heritage designation, however the land is designed a national historic site because the berms around the property contain the original earthworks for the War of 1812. The home represents the impeccable taste that Lord Shaughnessy was noted for and is located near to the Algonquin Hotel, also noted for its outstanding architecture and luxurious accommodations.
